Federico Gutiérrez Obeso

I am a Mexican animator and illustrator born in 1985. I currently reside in Mexico City, and my passion for drawing has always been a part of my life. I studied Fine and Visual Arts at ENPEG “La Esmeralda” and completed my training in Classical Animation at VFS.

My natural inclination is towards creating small narratives, whether in a single image or in a series of them. This fascination has led me to want to tell more extensive stories, fed by both my general interests in life and the specific circumstances at the time they are created.

Over the course of my career, I have made several noteworthy short films. Among them, “Primos” stands out, winning the award for Best Latin American Short Film at the Chilemonos festival. “Arcadia” and “Burrow” have also been selected in various international animation festivals. In addition, I authored a graphic narrative book titled “Primos”.

Between 2018 and 2020, I was the Animation Director at Pictoline. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with various studios in Mexico and Canada. Notably, I’ve served as a concept artist and character designer for Giant Ant, and as animation director for Casiopea and Llamarada Animación.

Currently, I teach animation classes at ESCINE and collaborate with FEDORA as Animation Director for “Mecánicas Imposibles” and Director of Props and VFX Animation for “Gravity”.
